Westlife Seek New Talent
Westlife singer Mark Feehily is following in band mate Kian Egan's footsteps and chasing after a British Popstars: The Rivals contestant.
Whilst Kian has reportedly been pursuing both Sarah Harding and Rosie Ribbons, Mark has his sights set on fellow talent show hopeful Nicola Roberts.
And the fact the girls both have boyfriends hasn't stopped the Westlife boys from relentlessly chasing after them.
Fellow contestant Aimee Kearsley, who was booted off the show last week says, "Sarah was so excited about Kian she didn't stop talking about him. Nicola has told us she really fancies Mark. They've even snogged."
"But I'm not sure what's going to happen as Sarah and Nicola have boyfriends at the moment."
Westlife Fly Guys Set A New Record
Well done to Westlife on securing yet another No #1 album this week.
The likeable Irish lads spent a day last week getting themselves into the Guinness Book of Records by pulling off the most intense album promotion tour ever. Starting off in Edinburgh the boys worked their way down the country until they finished off in the south of England.
Of course, when you're rich and famous, you travel in style. The boys are so big right now they have their own private jet - the Westforce One.
But the hard work has paid off and they are now in contention to have the biggest-selling album of the year.
The guys have wisely pulled out of the race for the Christmas No 1, though. They have decided not to go head-to-head with the two groups from Pop Stars: The Rivals, so the Westlife Christmas single, a cover of Cliff Richard's Miss You Nights, will hit the shops at the start of December.
Robbie's New Album Set For Number One
Robbie Williams' new album is heading straight to the top of the UK chart and is set to knock Irish band Westlife off the number one spot.
Escapology is selling double the amount of copies as its rival, Westlife's Unbreakable - The Greatest Hits.
Blue's One Love should drop to number three according to the latest figures from Virgin Megastores.
Elton John's The Greatest Hits 1970 - 2002 is expected to fall one place to four, with Pink's Missundaztood climbing to five.
Westlife Ask Fans To Back Kirsty CD
Pop heart-throbs Westlife are backing opera star Russell Watson's quest for a money-spinning Christmas number one to help little Kirsty Howard raise £5m.
Russell's charity single Nothing Sacred, for the Francis House hospice appeal, is not released until December 9, but the chart-topping boy band wanted to be among the first to throw in their support.
Starting today, the M.E.N. will bring all the latest news on the campaign to get the record to the top of the charts.
A Christmas number one would be a massive boost to the appeal fund and help secure the future of the Heald Green hospice. Kirsty, who was born with her heart back-to-front, has been the figurehead for the hospice's £5m appeal and has so far raised more than £1.6m.
The Westlife lads - Kian Egan, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne, and Bryan McFadden - have a massive following which could encourage thousands of their fans to buy Russell's disc.
Westlife, who were in Manchester recently promoting their greatest hits album, Unbreakable, wanted to know more about Russell's charity single.
Irish boy band Westlife has suffered a critical mauling from the most unlikeliest of sources - their manager.
Outspoken Popstars: The Rivals judge Louis Walsh, who also introduced the world to Boyzone and Samantha Mumba, believes their last original album World Of Their Own is a stinker and that only two of the singers have a long-term future in the music business.
The Irish svengali predicts that only Bryan McFadden and Shane Filan have any chance of longevity.
Christina Tops UK Charts
Christina Aguilera's raunchy new image paid off today as she topped the UK singles chart on its 50th birthday with her latest single, Dirrty.
Dirrty, is one of 16 tracks on her album Stripped which was released in October and is currently at 40 in the UK album chart.
Westlife, who last week celebrated their 11th number one hit, dropped to number four with their single Unbreakable, and Nelly, featuring Kelly Rowland, went up one place to number two.
Kylie Minogue's single, Come into My World, featured on her album Fever, entered the charts at number eight beneath the Sugababes new entry with Stronger at number seven. Coldplay sneaked into the top 10 with their new single, The Scientist.
Madonna dropped another six places into 18th spot, with the title theme from new James Bond film Die Another Day.
This week marked the 50th anniversary of the official singles chart and Robbie Williams performed four tracks live on today's show.
Radio One confirmed it was also Top 40 legend Mark Goodier's last show but said a permanent replacement had not been decided.
Despite Westlife's fall off the top slot in the singles chart there was still cause for celebration as they stormed straight into the album chart at number one with Unbreakable.
Elsewhere, Elton John's album, The Greatest Hits 1970-2002, entered the chart at number three. Close on its heels, Craig David's Slicker Than Your Average entered at number four.
Aguilera Drops The Dirrty Bomb
Christina Aguilera has topped the UK singles charts with her raunchy single 'Dirrty' featuring East coast rapper/producer Redman.
Other new entries inside the top ten are Blazin' Squad's 'Love On The Line' at six, Sugababes double A side 'Stronger/Angels With Dirty Faces' at seven, Kylie Minogue with 'Come Into My World' at eight and finally Coldplay's 'The Scientist' at ten.
The only other new entries within the top 25 are Ashanti with 'Happy' at 13, Santana's 'The Game Of Love' at 16 and 'Don't Wanna Know' by Shy FX and T Power at 19.
Westlife, having been knocked from the singles pole position have claimed the number on position in the albums chart with their best-of, entitled 'Unbreakable'. Elton John's 'The Greatest Hits 1970-2002' entered at three and Craig David's 'Slicker Than The Average' charted at four.
Popstars Lust For Westlife
Tearful Popstars loser Aimee Kearsley yesterday lifted the lid on her rivals love lives after being booted off TV.
Aimee, 17, revealed her best mate Nicola Roberts fancies 23-year-old Westlife hunk Mark Feehily.
And she said blonde wannabe Sarah Harding has the hots for Marks band-mate Kian Egan, despite having a boyfriend.
Aimee said Nicola, also 17, SNOGGED Mark at a bash to plug Westlifes album launch last week.
Meanwhile, a Popstars insider revealed Kian, 22, who recently split with his lover, sent Sarah knickers and chocs for her 21st birthday yesterday.
Aimee, from Southport, said: Nicola and Sarah are mad on the Westlife boys. Nicola cant stop going on about Mark they did snog at the party.
She really fancies him, but shes still committed to her boyfriend Carl.
Sarah was really happy after meeting Kian. She told me, Hes gorgeous.
Aimee, voted off ITV1s Popstars on Saturday, sobbed: I cant believe I wont be in the band.
A source said last night: Kian does fancy Sarah, so its a matter of watching this space.

Aguilera Knocks Westlife From UK Charts Top Spot
Pop beauty Christina Aguilera shot to the top of the UK music charts on Sunday with "Dirrty," which has already been a smash hit in the United States.
The single entered the charts in Britain last weekend at a lowly number 156, but it took just one week to jump to the number one spot, according to the Official UK Charts Company.
Aguilera knocked Irish boyband Westlife's "Unbreakable" off the top spot. The track, in fourth place this week, is from their greatest hits album of the same name and was their 11th number one single in four years.
Moving up one place to number two this week was "Dilemma" from Texan rapper Nelly and Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland, and dropping to third place was "Heaven" by DJ Sammy and Yanou.
Spanish dance trio Las Ketchup continued to delight music fans, holding steady at number five with "The Ketchup Song."
There were four new entries in the top 10 -- Blazin' Squad's "Love On The Line" at number six, "Stronger/Angels With Dirty Faces" by Sugababes at seven, Kylie Minogue's "Come Into My World" at eight and Coldplay's "The Scientist" at number 10.
Dropping down from fourth to ninth place was U.S. country singer Shania Twain with "I'm Gonna Getcha Good."
Westlife's Nicky To Marry
Westlife hunk Nicky Byrne has hinted that he will soon propose to girlfriend Georgina Ahern.
The 24-year-old is dating the daughter of Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, and they plan to spend the Christmas (02) break together at home in Dublin.
Byrne, who along with the rest of the boys has just released their greatest hits album Unbreakable, says, "I might even propose, who knows? I want us to spend the rest of our lives together, grow old, and have a family. Georgia makes me so happy. I dream about us getting married one day."
Westlife Are Web Awards Winners
Westlife were winners at the first Interactive Music Awards (IMAs) which took place last night in London.
The IMAs are for artists who have done the most to reach their fans through the internet and other interactive media.
The Irish boyband won the People's Choice award for their website, www.westlife.com
Other artists who received awards included Pop Idol's Darius Danesh, who took Best Pop Artist, and Blue, winners of the Artist of the Year award.
The awards were presented by rap star Chuck D at the BT Tower in London.
Pop Party Special
Last weekend's Smash Hits Poll Winners Party was the pop event of the year and we were there backstage chatting to a host of the day's special guests.
The array of popstars we spoke to backstage were all looking forward to the Christmas break and a few welcome days off.
"To collect four awards was excellent." Westlife's Shane told us. "We're very pleased, very happy. Now we're taking five weeks off at Christmas, we're gonna relax, go on holidays, spend time with our families."
Favourite albums of the year also cropped up with choices ranging from debut albums by Ms Dynamite and Blazin' Squad (nominated by Harvey and Romeo), Christina and Sugababes (Shane), and Coldplay (The Calling).
So who's going to get the Christmas No.1? It certainly won't be Westlife as Shane revealed why they had decided not to release a festive single.
"There's no point in going up against Popstars: The Rivals. I don't know who'll win. I think the boys have an advantage for some reason, just cos they're lads but it depends on the song. It could go either way. I'd say it'd be close with very big sales.
Westlife triumph at Smash Hits Awards
Westlife and Gareth Gates have scooped the top awards at this year's 'Smash Hits' Pollwinners Party yesterday.
The event was hosted by Kelly Osbourne and T4 presenters Vernon Kay and June Sarpong.
Justin Timberlake couldn't be there to co-host as he's broken his foot - although he did send in a video message to say hello.
Westlife won Best Band on Planet Pop and Best International Group as well as being added to the 'Smash Hits' hall of fame.
Bizarrely Bryan was also named Party Mentalist of the Year. Here he is showing what a true 'nutter' he is:
"It has 'Best Teeth In Pop', Party dentalist of the year The best part is the fact that we have won four awards. So we've one for working hard all year, but then we've also won an award for partying hard all year, the five of us."
"It's brilliant, every year we've won a lot of awards - we're very happy. It's great to be coming back every year and getting awards."
Security Priority For Westlife In Malaysia
Irish stars Westlife had to tighten up their relaxed security on their recent trip to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia which frustrated the normally laid back band.
After the terrorist bombing on the neighbouring Indonesian island of Bali, security was stepped up and the band was unable to go anywhere without protection.
Hunky singer Bryan McFadden says, "The security we had in Malaysia was like nothing we had experienced before. We are not the type of band who goes for the big minder thing at all."
"We're all normal, but in the Far East we were given our own hotel floor where there were security guys all over. We couldn't go anywhere alone, but we saw a lot of the city. But being told we couldn't just wander out of the front door on our own was strange."
But the 22-year-old did see the lighter side of the trip, "We played two rounds of golf but when I lost the ball a security man had to get it back because it wasn't safe for us to wander into the bushes."
Westlife & Gareth Rule Smash Hits Awards
Westlife and Gareth Gates swept the board at the Smash Hits T4 Poll Winners Party.
They scooped four awards each, including best band for Westlife and best male for Gareth.
The 18-year-old pop hedgehog was also named best newcomer and most fanciable male, while his famous spiky haircut won an award all of its own.
Other winners included Blue, named best UK band and best live act, and Liberty X, who won the best single award for Just A Little.
So Solid Crew won best R&B/Garage Act and Pink was named best female.
But former Big Brother housemate Jade Good was named most hideous thing.
And Christina Aguilera officially has the worst dress sense in pop!
Pop fans packed the London Arena for the star-studded awards ceremony, co-hosted by wild-child Kelly Osbourne.
Justin Timberlake was missing after breaking his foot during a dance routine.
Atomic Kitten, Ms Dynamite, S Club and Holly Valance all performed.
At The Poll Winners' Party
The best-looking women in music were out in force last night for one of the biggest pop events of the year.
But even they were over-shadowed by celebrity host, punk singer Kelly Osbourne, at the Smash Hits Poll Winners' Party.
Celebrity babes such as Samantha Mumba, Atomic Kitten, Holly Valance and the Liberty X Girls were all upstaged by the teen star, the daughter of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne.
Kelly, who performed live at the ceremony, was due to team up with Justin Timberlake as co- host, but he was forced to pull out earlier in the week with a broken foot
The big winners were Westlife and Gareth Gates, who won four awards each, while boy band rivals Blue took two gongs.
Gareth beat Will Young and Darius to the Best Male and Best Newcomer titles, while he also took home the Most Fanciable Male Title and Top Mop best haircut - despite also being nominated for the worst hairstyle of the year.
Darius, who won Best Dressed Male, received a rousing reception from the 11,000 crowd when he sang live.
Will Young had to make do with Best Video for Light My Fire.
Westlife took Best Band On Planet Pop, Best International Act, Smash Hits Cover Of The Year, while singer Bryan McFadden was voted Party Mentalist Of The Year and they were also inducted into the Smash Hits Hall Of Fame.

Robbie Hits The Top
Robbie Williams has stormed straight to number one in the UK album chart.
The pop bad boy's fifth album Escapology, his first new material for two years, knocked Westlife's greatest hits compilation Unbreakable from the top spot.
His success comes after he sold out two planned summer weekend dates at Knebworth in just seven and a half hours.
Are Westlife making a movie?
Having recently scored their 11th UK number one, Westlife are apparently setting their sights on becoming film stars too.
According to some unconfirmed showbiz reports, the boys will start filming Westlife: The Movie next year, ready for it to come out late in 2003.
They've roped in their manager Louis Walsh to play himself, and apparently solo star Ronan Keating will also appear. He was their joint manager when the boys started out.
Perhaps there'll also be a part for Vinnie Jones, since he was a top baddie in the video for Bop Bop Baby.
They're not the first pop stars to make the switch to the movies. Spiceworld was a big hit several years ago, and S Club's movie Seeing Double will be out next year.
Westlife Nominated For Interactive Music Awards
Westlife and U2 have been nominated for Interactive Music Awards (IMAs).
The Interactive Music Awards are the latest addition to the British music calender and will take place on 26 November.
The Irish boy band have been nominated in the categories of Best Pop Artist and Artist of the Year.
U2 received a nomination for Best Rock/Indie Artist.
The awards are for artists and labels who have done the most to reach their fans through the internet and other interactive media such as SMS and interactive TV.
Westlife have announced a fifth Scottish date next year. The Irish boyband will also play July 13 at the SECC in Glasgow on their Unbreakable Tour.
Tickets (£25.00, subject to booking fee) go on sale today from the box office. Tel 0870 040 6050.
Shane's Into Vestlife Now
As if singing in a top boyband wasn't enough, Shane Filan of Westlife has branched out into fashion.
Shane has bought a Morgan franchise in Ireland, and to celebrate he met up with Tamara Beckwith and Lisa B who were in the Morgan Spring Summer 2003 collection in London.
Pity about Shane's bunnet though - he should have sorted out his own wardrobe before filling other people's.
Movie Role For Westlife
Sky News showbiz guru Neil Sean brings us the latest gossip:
They have just celebrated their 11th number one with the track 'Unbreakable' and they are also sitting at the top of the album charts with 'Greatest Hits Vol 1'.
Now we can reveal exclusive details of Westlife: The Movie. Filming will begin in March of next year with rumored cameos by ex-Boyzone star Ronan Keating as their manager and real-life boss.
Pop stars judge Louis Walsh will be playing ... well, Louis Walsh.
Sadly, another close pop star pal Sam Mumba has said no to a cameo as she is too busy making movies in Hollywood.
Look out for Westlife: The Movie on screens in the latter part of 2003.
